KIND HEARTS
It was an exuberating experience when Kind Hearts, visited the Govt. U.P. School Kottoor to provide uniforms for the underprivileged tribal students.
The school is located near Neyyar dam forest area and most of the students are from tribal communities. The school face a lot of issues in terms of classrooms for the students, computer labs and other infrastructure.
We visited the classrooms and the computer lab and talked to the teachers and the Principal on the various needs of the school. We interacted with the students and tried to understand the challenges faced by them.
In our humble effort to do something for the school we donated uniform material for 67 students. This is just a small step in terms of what can be done for the school.
There are lot of other initiatives for which they need financial help, some of them are the following:
New computers in the computer Lab
Of the 3 computers in the lab, 2 are not functional and the only one working is insufficient for all the 168 students.
Homeless students
Many of the hard working students are homeless, and any sort of financial support will be a great relief for the continuation of their education.
Morning Meals
Most of the students start their journey early morning, without food as they have to travel for hours in Jeeps to reach school. By the time they reach school they are physically tired for school. There were cases in which many students fainted after the tiring journey. Providing morning breakfast for these students will help alleviate this problem and will also be a motivation for many tribal children who don’t come to school and stay at home.
