Ponmudi U.P School Visit

Kind Hearts team visited Ponmudi U.P School located near the topmost region of Ponmudi mountain range. Its a picturesque and serene location, not far away from the concrete jungle.

Started in 1951 to provide education for the children from the families of tea plantation workers, it was acquired by the government in 1961 and later established as a U.P school in 1981. At that time, around 400 children were attending the school. There were two mediums for teaching - Tamil and Malayalam.

By 2010, the state of the school was such that it seemed irretrievable. As of now, the school has just 20 students. Bad climate, lack of good food and clothing have been plaguing the children. We did our part to improve this situation by helping them with the amenities they need. Owing to the lack of payments for the plantation workers, their children were the ones who suffered badly. So, we expect to make their lives better from now and we expect kind-hearted people or organizations to join in our initiative.
